After two and a half years of testing the Amplify Science K-5 curriculum in classrooms, the Redmond School District will officially adopt it district-wide starting next semester.

The Redmond School Board unanimously approved the adoption of Amplify at its meeting Wednesday night. The curriculum includes hands-on experimentation, digital integration and traditional textbook learning, according to Linda Seeberg, executive director of academic achievement.

During a November board meeting, Seeberg said the district will have a “soft start” in adopting the curriculum in February, with teacher training for all teachers not part of the recent pilot program. A second training session is planned for August, and full implementation of Amplify is expected to begin in the 2019-20 school year.

The move will impact all 3,280 elementary students in the Redmond School District.

Amplify was also recently adopted by Bend-La Pine Schools.
