A pedestrian was struck and killed Thursday evening in Redmond.
The accident happened just before 6 p.m., when 53-year-old Catherine Yazzie, of Redmond, was crossing SW Veterans Way at the intersection with SW Kalama Avenue in an unmarked crosswalk, according to a Redmond Police Department press release. Dalton Curry, 22, of Terrebonne, was heading north on Veterans Way and hit Yazzie with his 1993 Saab passenger car, according to police.
Yazzie was taken to the hospital for treatment, but did not survive.
Curry remained at the scene and cooperated with officers investigating the crash, according to police.
Police are still investigating the cause of the crash and said it was too early to determine if a crime had been committed. Impairment from alcohol or drugs is not believed to be a factor, police said.
Redmond police are seeking information about another vehicle that was in the area at the time of the crash, described as a white Chevrolet Silverado with a canopy. The pickup was driving north on SW Veterans Way when the crash occurred and either continued north, or turned east onto SW Kalama Ave. Anyone with information about the vehicle or the crash is asked to call 541-693-6911.
