Two men are dead after a shooting in northeast Bend early Saturday.
The Bend Police Department issued a press release Saturday morning that described an incident in the 20000 block of NE Sierra Drive around 1:20 a.m. Police received calls from neighbors about “shots heard.” A 31-year-old Bend resident called 911 to say he shot a man inside his residence.
Police went to Sierra Drive and found a 31-year-old man deceased and a 27-year-old man with life-threatening injuries. The injured man was transported to St. Charles Bend and later died at the hospital.
Bend Police detectives, Oregon State Police and the Deschutes County District Attorney’s Office are investigating. Investigators and OSP’s crime lab are executing a search warrant at two residences on Sierra Drive.
Police have not released the exact addresses under investigation, but personnel were seen working inside 20778 and 20774 NE Sierra Drive.
Because of the complexity of the investigation, Sierra Drive was expected to be closed for the duration of the on-scene investigation, police said.
Bend Police Lt. Clint Burleigh said the shooter is cooperating with investigators, and there is no threat to the community.
Bend Police are notifying family of the deceased and would not release their names until the investigation is complete. The department asked that anyone with information about the early-morning shooting call the nonemergency number: 541-693-6911.
