Jefferson County Sheriff’s deputies seized two snakes, four cats, four rats, six dogs and 20 fish from a home in Crooked River Ranch after arresting two people who lived in the home.
Jonathan Vance, 37, and Mellody Barnes, 35, have been on probation since 2013, when they were convicted for second-degree animal neglect. Terms of their probation prohibited Vance and Barnes from owning animals for five years, and a judge issued warrants for their arrests earlier this month.
All animals were taken to the Three Rivers Humane Society in Madras.
The Jefferson County District Attorney’s office expects to file additional criminal charges Friday.
