College notes

Alaina Mayfield , of Bend, has earned a master’s degree in emergency management from the University of New Haven’s Henry C. Lee College of Criminal Justice and Forensic Sciences.

Abigail Andresen , of Bend, has been named to the dean’s list at Pacific University. To qualify for the dean’s list at Pacific, a student must achieve a term GPA of 3.7 and complete 12 or more graded hours.

Military notes

• U.S. Air Force Airman 1st Class William H. Stabe has graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland in San Antonio, Texas. He is a 2017 graduate of Sisters High School.

High school notes

• Michael McDonald has been selected to be Summit High School’s next principal. He is currently the assistant principal, a position he has served in since 2004. McDonald’s background includes more than 25 years in education in Oregon. He will begin his new position July 1 after Summit High School principal Alice DeWittie retires from public education.

• The Ravens , the cheerleading team representing Ridgeview High School, of Redmond, earned a fourth-place trophy in the 2018 Oregon School Activities Association Cheerleading State championships held Feb. 10-11. The 2017-18 Ravens are:

Middle school notes

• Crook County Middle School was awarded $500 from Crook County Cultural Coalition to go toward the purchase of World Music drums. World Music Drumming is a cross-cultural curriculum that is being taught in more than 20,000 schools worldwide.
