The Sisters Ranger District of the Deschutes National Forest is getting a new ranger next month.

The U.S. Forest Service announced Monday that Ian Reid, who currently works as the North Fork John Day district ranger on the Umatilla National Forest, has been selected as the new district ranger for the Sisters district. He will take over his new post in early December, according to a news release from the U.S. Forest Service.

Reid graduated with a bachelor’s degree in fisheries from Oregon State University and a master’s degree in biology from Southern Oregon University, according to the release. He began working for the Forest Service in 1999 on the Rogue River-Siskiyou National Forest as a district fish biologist and program manager. Over the next 18 years, he worked in the fields of fire, timber, mining, rangeland, wilderness, and recreation management for the Forest Service.

He will be accompanied in Sisters by his wife, Annie, and his two daughters, Ila and Opal, according to the release.
