Deschutes County is now accepting applications from citizens interested in reviewing the county’s proposed budget for the next fiscal year.
County officials announced Wednesday that they are seeking applicants for an open position on the Deschutes County Budget Committee, which consists of the three elected members of the Deschutes County Commission, as well as three citizens. Committee members review the county’s proposed budget in advance of the upcoming fiscal year, and present a recommendation to the Deschutes County Commission for adoption.
Applicants must be residents of Deschutes County, and residents with experience in finance or business management are particularly encouraged to apply, according a news release from the county.
The successful applicant will assume the remainder of a 3-year term that ends on Dec. 31, 2018. Committee volunteers typically attend five to seven meetings between December and the end of June, and they are not paid for their time, according to the release.
