Boy killed falling from parade float — An Oregon boy is dead after falling off a parade float on his seventh birthday. Dylan Thomas was riding on the float Saturday as part of the Miner’s Jubilee Parade in Baker City, a celebration of northeastern Oregon’s mining history. Investigators said he was struck by the rear wheels of a commercial vehicle. Baker City Police said it appears to have been an accident, but authorities are investigating.

Fishing boat sinks at Columbia River marina — The Coast Guard said a commercial fishing boat sank and was leaking fuel at a marina in northwestern Oregon near the mouth of the Columbia River. The Coast Guard received word at about 5:30 a.m. Sunday that the 43-foot Western Skies was partially submerged at the Warrenton Marina. It’s unclear how much fuel was on board, but the vessel was leaking diesel fuel. Marina workers deployed oil containment boom around the boat. The Coast Guard said it was unable to contact the vessel’s owner. No one appears to have been on board when it sank.
