A three-vehicle crash on Highway 97 killed a Redmond woman Tuesday night.
A 2006 Saturn Ion was southbound south of Redmond when driver Kylee Bruce, 24, lost control while attempting to pass another car, an Oregon State Police news release said. Bruce, of Redmond, slid into oncoming traffic and was T-boned by a 2005 Pontiac driven by Josue Chavez Soriano of Redmond. Her car then hit a 2017 BMW X5 driven by Jennifer Oulman of Redmond, the release said, before coming to a rest.
Bruce died on the scene. Chavez Soriano, 46, was taken to St. Charles Redmond and Oulman, 37, was taken to St. Charles Bend. Both were treated for non-life-threatening injuries, the release said.
That stretch of the highway was closed for 90 minutes before OSP opened one lane for traffic. The highway was fully reopened at 11:45 p.m.
The crash is under investigation, and OSP is seeking witnesses. Anyone with information is asked to call 503-375-3555.
