Culver High School is one of five Oregon schools that are finalists in a contest promoting STEM in schools.

The Samsung Solve for Tomorrow Contest encourages teachers and students to solve problems in their communities using science, technology, engineering and math, or STEM. The other finalists are: Mt. Tabor Middle School in Portland; Benson High School in Portland; Gateways High School in Springfield; and South Salem Senior High School in Salem.

In recent years, the Culver district has worked to integrate STEM lessons in all grades. Teachers were encouraged to work together and engage local experts and resources.

The state winner will be announced in December and receive $20,000 in technology. That school will then compete in a national round.
