Electricity will be shut down for approximately 1,800 Culver area households early Friday to allow Pacific Power crews to install new equipment at a substation in the area.

In a news release, Pacific Power said the upgrades will allow the electrical system to work more efficiently as renewable power generation is added in the Culver area.

Affected residents will be without power from 2 a.m. until no later than 4 a.m. The timing of the outage was planned to accommodate irrigators, who often turn on irrigation pumps in the early hours.
