Who: Oil painter Katherine Taylor’s “Deja Vu: Representing the Oregon Landscape Through an Altered Lens” is on display through Sept. 2 at Tumalo Art Co. The exhibition is based off of a journal entry Taylor rediscovered in a backpack she took on hiking and camping trips her first year in Central Oregon in 1996. Her descriptions of the sights she encountered inspired these works, which rely on the nuance, nostalgia and growth she has accomplished over the past 23 years. Using her classical training, Taylor’s landscapes feature dramatic lighting techniques and lustrous glazing.
