Robert and Peggy (Schyvynck) Hurzeler, of Bend, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a party at their home from 6 to 11 p.m. Friday.
The couple were married May 31, 1969, in Simi Valley, California. They have five children: Jason (and Carri-Lee), of Anchorage, Alaska; Aaron, of Des Moines, Iowa; Kevin, of Portland; Eli (and Heather), of Keaau, Hawaii; and Tracy, of Portland; nine grandchildren.
The high school sweethearts were married one week before Mr. Hurzeler was deployed to Vietnam. The couple moved to Summer Lake, where Mr. Hurzeler worked at the Freemont Sawmill, in Paisley. He is the manager at the Secure Storage in Bend for 23 years. He enjoys hiking, biking, target shooting and fitness.
Mrs. Hurzeler worked at Costco in Bend and retired in 2016 and enjoys photography, hiking and biking.
They enjoy spending time at the Oregon Coast and with their grandchildren.
They are looking forward to Mr. Hurzeler’s retirement when they plan to settle in Keaau, Hawaii.
They have lived in Bend for 48 years.
