Garold Barrett, of Redmond, celebrated his 100th birthday April 28 with a potluck and PowerPoint presentation on his life. He was joined by a large gathering of family and friends.
Mr. Barrett was born May 1, 1919, in Nebraska. He married Delpha Barrett, who died Nov. 27, 2013. He has three children, Bruce, of Redmond, Gary, of Canby, and Mark, of Tillisonberg, Ontario; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Mr. Barrett previously held several occupations, including insurance broker, sawmill owner and cattle rancher. He also raised racehorses and served as the mayor of Redmond for two terms from 1968 to 1973.
He served as an engineer in the infantry during in World War II from 1942 to 1945 and completed his service in 1948.
He has lived in Oregon for 84 years.
