Allan and Linda (Johnston) Plant, of Redmond, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with family and friends at an open house hosted by Jason and Laura Plant Saturday afternoon.

The couple were married June 15, 1968, in Eugene and honeymooned in Florence on the Oregon Coast. They have two children. Glenn (and MaLinda), of Sheridan, and Jason (and Laura), of Redmond, and six grandchildren.

Mr. Plant attended Berean Bible College in Alberta, Canada, then served in the U.S. Air Force from 1969 to 1973, including one year in Vietnam. He worked for Arclin USA in Springfield as a chemical operator, and for 26 summers at Camp Cherith teaching archery and canoeing. He was the boys’ camp director for three years. In 2013, he and Mrs. Plant moved to Redmond after retiring from Arclin. He enjoys painting, reading and camping.

Mrs. Plant attended Seattle Pacific College before getting married. She has been a bank teller, jewelry sales clerk, church organist and homemaker. She has taught piano lessons for 44 years. Mrs. Plant is a past president and past secretary of the Oregon Music Teachers Association and past president of the Eugene National Guild of Piano Teachers. She was on the board of Oregon Camp Cherith for 32 years, where she was also a lifeguard and canoe instructor. Linda enjoys reading, gardening, needle arts and making crafts.

The couple are members of Highland Baptist Church and enjoy spending time with family and traveling.

They have lived in Redmond for five years.
