Museum exhibit lands award — The High Desert Museum’s original exhibit “Desert Reflections: Water Shapes the West” has been named the winner of the 2019 Charles Redd Center for Western Studies Award for Exhibition Excellence. The award isn’t in hand yet: It will be presented at the Western Museums Association’s yearly meeting, being held next month in Boise, Idaho. The exhibit blends history, science, art and ongoing issues to explore the role of water in the region’s past, present and future. Open since April, “Water Shapes the West” displays through Sept. 29. “It is a sterling example of an exhibition that is both timely and enduring, as well as accessible to a diverse community of learners,” a press release quotes Michael Fiegneschuh, leader of the 2019 selection committee.
