Bulletin Staff Report

The Bend Planning Commission is scheduled to hear on Monday evening a proposal that would allow Les Schwab Tire Centers to relocate its store from Franklin Avenue to Third Street.

The proposed new location is in the Bend Central District, which does not allow new auto-dependent uses, such as car sales and service.

The planning commission is being asked to remove from the Bend Central District the property Les Schwab wants to buy, which is a city block between NE Third and NE Fourth streets, south of NE Clay Avenue and north of NE Burnside Avenue. In exchange, Les Schwab has agreed that automotive dependent uses would not be allowed at its 105 NE Franklin Ave. property after the tire service center is relocated, according to a report from city staff.
