Children of families affected by the recent federal government shutdown can get assistance with the fees required for after-school sports.
The Bend-based nonprofit KIDS in the GAME announced Wednesday it has opened a Federal Employee Pass Program, funded by a grant from Nike.
According to a news release detailing the program, federal employees can register their children online by providing the youth sports organization or school name, a contact with the organization, the full cost of the program, the number of hours per week, the duration of the program, and a photo of their federal identification that can be uploaded. The program is available through March 30.
