A driver lost control of his car and T-boned a Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office patrol car near La Pine Thursday morning.
According to sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. William Bailey, the accident occurred at 10:43 a.m. on Day Road, just northwest of La Pine city limits.
After it was hit, the patrol car was sent crashing into a power pole, Bailey said.
The deputy driving the patrol car suffered minor injuries, was evaluated at the scene by medics, and later taken home by a sheriff’s sergeant, Bailey said. The other driver was uninjured, and was not arrested.
Bailey said Oregon State Police are investigating the crash, although he said the icy road surface in the area could have been a factor.
The crash was not related to a burglary investigation in La Pine earlier Thursday, although the deputy in the accident was in the area helping with that investigation, Bailey said.
