Volunteer Central Oregon, an organization that connects volunteers with opportunities in the region, is encouraging people to sign up for the area’s 10th annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service.
On Monday, Jan. 21, volunteers across Central Oregon will paint walls, clean buildings, mentor children, serve meals, create Valentine cards for hospitalized veterans, and provide other services for the community.
Over the past 9 years, nearly 2,500 volunteers have served on MLK Day in Central Oregon, contributing over 7,000 hours of service throughout the region, according to Volunteer Central Oregon.
Volunteers of all ages are invited to sign-up, which can be done online at VolunteerCentralOregon.org. Team sign-ups for organizations, clubs, and businesses are also encouraged.
In addition, organizations wanting to sponsor a project can contact Shelley Irwin or Shenika Cumberbatch at 541-693-5678.
