REDMOND — Central Christian’s Ethan Payne came alive in the fourth quarter, scoring 12 of his 14 points in the final period as the Tigers earned their first Mountain Valley League win of the season with a 68-46 boys basketball victory over Rogue Valley Adventist.

Central Christian (1-1 MVL, 6-3 overall) outscored the Hawks 30-15 in the fourth quarter.

Josh Biever led the Tigers with 19 points, and Jace Mills chipped in with 18 points. Central Christian hit five 3-pointers en route to its third straight win.

South Eugene 42, Summit 39: EUGENE — Olivia Loberg’s open 3-point attempt rimmed out at the buzzer as the Storm fell in a nonconference contest. Loberg finished with 14 points and five rebounds for Summit, which trailed 25-12 at the half and held South Eugene scoreless for the first six minutes of the fourth quarter. Hailee Neibauer had five points and seven boards for the Storm (3-5), and Callista West provided a key defensive spark as Summit nearly rallied back from 13 points down.

Rogue Valley Adventist 52, Central Christian 18: REDMOND — The Tigers were outscored 14-2 in the first quarter en route to a Mountain Valley League loss. Faith Lyons and Heather Brunoe each led Central Christian (0-2 MVL, 0-9 overall) with six points.
