A 15-year-old reported missing Tuesday from Bend was found in his hometown of Vancouver, Wash., late Tuesday, according to Bend Police Lt. Nick Parker.

Kenneth Currin Schuchman, who has been diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome, was in Bend with his father visiting family, Parker said. His father reported the teen missing around 1:30 a.m. Tuesday. Schuchman reportedly left the relatives’ home on foot, without access to a vehicle.

Parker said Schuchman had money and boarded a Breeze bus heading north out of Bend. He said it was unclear whether Schuchman had purchased a ticket.

Working with jurisdictions north of Bend, law enforcement was able to locate Schuchman in Vancouver and reunite him with his mother, who lives there, Parker said Wednesday.

“The Bend Police Department would like to thank the community for all efforts in trying to locate him,” Parker said.
