How’s this for a musical love story: In 2015, Amy Novo told her husband, organ player extraordinaire Delvon Lamarr, that she would manage his musical career and that “all he had to do was find the musicians, create and play music,” according to the Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio’s online biography. Four years later and Lamarr has certainly lived up to his end of the bargain, teaming with Seattle guitarist Jimmy James and a rotating series of drummers to craft his old-school-meets-rock ’n’ roll soul jazz sound (think classic instrumental groups such as Booker T. & the M.G.’s). The rest of the musical world is taking notice, with the band’s debut studio album, “Close but No Cigar,” peaking at No. 1 on Billboard’s U.S. Contemporary Jazz Albums chart early last year. The trio, now with Denny Burkes behind the drum kit, will groove down to Bend to play Volcanic Theatre Pub on Monday.

Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio: 8 p.m. Monday; $18 plus fees in advance, $22 at the door; Volcanic Theatre Pub, 70 SW Century Drive, Bend; or 541-323-1881.
