Perhaps it’s best to let Austin, Texas, group Bourgeois Mystics describe themselves, via their Facebook page: The multilingual, multigenre 10-piece is “a for-profit, personal growth cult and ‘genre-defying dance party waiting to explode.’” That gives an idea of the off-beat humor this band presents in its wildly entertaining shows. But there are some serious chops involved musically.

A blend of demonic cabaret, slinky funk and hip-hop swagger nestled amongst multiple tempo changes, with the vocals switching from English to French mid-verse — and that’s just describing the first song on the band’s 2017 full-length, “Eureka!” It’s no wonder the band touts another description in its bio: “Zappa meets OutKast.” Hear for yourself Thursday at Volcanic Theatre Pub.

Bourgeois Mystics: 10 p.m. Thursday; $8 plus fees in advance, $10 at the door; Volcanic Theatre Pub, 70 SW Century Drive, Bend; volcanictheatre.com or 541-323-1881.
