As should be painfully obvious to anyone reading these pages by now, Bend loves its beer and its live music, especially when the two collide like they will at SMaSH Fest (which stands for “single malt and single hop”) on Saturday. The festival kicks off at noon at O’Kanes Square at McMenamins Old St. Francis School, with live music kicking off at 1:30 p.m. Local psych-rock group The Jess Ryan Band, which has been hard at work on its debut album since February, is up first. Then, Bend’s ¡Chiringa! will fire up a Latin dance party with its mix of traditional salsa, cumbia and bachata tunes, pop covers and originals. And while the beer portion of the festival costs $25 for 10 tastes plus a souvenir glass, the music is free.

¡Chiringa! and The Jess Ryan Band at SMaSH Fest: 1:30 p.m. Saturday; free; McMenamins Old St. Francis School, 700 NW Bond St., Bend; or 541-382-5174.
