After splitting up the various ingredients in its musical mix in the three-EP “The Kite and the Key” series, progressive newgrass band Hot Buttered Rum threw everything back into the pot for its sixth studio album, “Lonesome Panoramic.” Released in July, the album starts in straight-ahead bluegrass territory before opening up to alt-country (“Country Tunes & Love Songs”), swinging ragtime (“Treasure Island Blues,” “When that Lonesome Feeling Comes”) and dark ballads (“The Spirits Still Come”). Expect all that — not to mention a healthy dose of virtuosic improvisation — when the five-piece brings its late-night party back to Central Oregon on Thursday for a show at Volcanic Theatre Pub with West African-influenced group Toubab Krewe.

Hot Buttered Rum, with Toubab Krewe: 9 p.m. Thursday; $15 plus fees in advance, $17 at the door; Volcanic Theatre Pub, 70 SW Century Drive, Bend; volcanictheatre.com or 541-323-1881.
