After sprawling out on 2015’s double-album “Digitonium” and last year’s live document “040717,” Brooklyn space-funk nine-piece Turkuaz tightened its focus on its fifth studio album, “Life in the City.” Also released last year, the album powers through nine songs in less than an hour — a far more succinct listen than previous records or the band’s powerhouse live shows. But the hallmarks of this hard-funking outfit — deep grooves, futuristic synthesizer vibes, muscular instrumental interplay and energetic harmonies — shine through no matter the song lengths. The band, a Central Oregon favorite, last ripped through Bend in late 2017 and will return to the Domino Room on Wednesday with Object Heavy opening.

Turkuaz, with Object Heavy: 9 p.m. Wednesday, doors open at 8:30 p.m.; $25 plus fees in advance, $30 at the door; ages 21 and older; Domino Room, 51 NW Greenwood Ave., Bend; parallel44presents.com or 541-408-4329.
