When Los Angeles funk/soul band Orgone last visited Bend in early 2018, it was about to drop “Undercover Mixtape,” an album featuring cover versions of songs by Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding, The Meters and more. “It’s … a great overview of what defines the influences and heart of the band,” founding guitarist Sergio Rios told GO! Magazine at the time. Fast-forward a year, and the band will kick off the album-release tour for its latest offering, “Reasons,” at the Domino Room on Thursday. Revisiting early influences seems to have paid off in the songwriting department: The band’s ninth studio set delves into those old-school sounds head-on while still progressing the band’s modern funkified mix. It’s the sound of a band at the top of its game.
