Who: Sarah B. Hansen’s works are part of the Water group show at Tumalo Art Company through April 1.

Lifelong hiker and adventurer, Hansen literally uses nature to inspire and create her paintings. Beginning with a textured surface, she builds layers of gesso and paper collage, imprinting foliage, produce netting or other found objects on the final layer. She then pours watercolor and gouache onto the surface, allowing it to find a natural path along the work. Her use of strong pops of color and a neutral palette help create these landscapes.
