Classic cars and rock ’n’ roll will collide (not literally, of course) at the fifth annual Shakedown Car Show, which will take place at the Box Factory on Saturday. After four years as a fundraiser for the Redmond VFW (where the event used to be located), this year the show will be hosted by classic car and low rider enthusiast group Alley Scrapers and will benefit Central Oregon Veterans Outreach. All proceeds from vehicle registrations (preregistration costs $30 for cars or $15 for motorcycles, with prices increasing to $40/$20 day-of-show) and a raffle will go to Central Oregon Veterans Outreach, said Cydnee Schoettler, Alley Scrapers treasurer and founder of Shakedown.

You’re probably wondering about that rock ’n’ roll from earlier. This year’s event will pack a local-music punch from some of the area’s top rock and punk bands, including hook-laden power-poppers The Roof Rabbits, long-running noise-rockers The Kronkmen, Andrew Carew of Larry and His Flask and rockabilly trio Boxcar Stringband. Music kicks off early at 11 a.m. — come feast your eyes, ears and support local veterans.
