Australian roots rocker John Butler will return to the Athletic Club of Bend with his eponymous trio Tuesday, a little less than two years since the group’s last appearance at the venue. At the time, Butler talked up the band’s new single, the strident social commentary “Bully,” and its upcoming album, its first since 2014’s “Flesh & Blood”: “We’re at a point in time where we either let the bullies ruin everything, and then just suck it up and say, ‘Well, hey, we could have done something, but we didn’t and now, it’s our fault,’ or we stand up to the bully, and how to do that and when to do that and who to do that with, it varies.”

The album “Home,” released last year, doesn’t feature “Bully,” but does take cues from the song’s attitude and pounding rhythms, even as the songs take a turn toward more personal topics.
