If you’re a Sublime fan living in Bend, this is your summer. Not only will you get the chance to see the reggae/R&B hybrid’s latest incarnation, Sublime with Rome (featuring singer/guitarist Rome Ramirez in place of bandleader/mastermind Bradley Nowell, who died in 1996), at the Athletic Club of Bend on June 22, you can also take in the band’s spiritual successor, the Long Beach Dub Allstars, at the Domino Room on Saturday. Originally formed in 1997 by Sublime bassist Eric Wilson and drummer Bud Gaugh, the Long Beach Dub Allstars released two albums that expanded on Sublime’s sound, this time in a big-band setting, before disbanding in 2002. The version of the group that will play Bend reunited in 2012 sans Wilson and Gaugh, who joined with Rome in 2009 (although Gaugh is out of that band now, too). Armed with new songs, the now seven-piece is back on the road with The Aggrolites and Tomorrow’s Bad Seeds.
Long Beach Dub Allstars, with The Aggrolites, Tomorrow’s Bad Seeds: 8:30 p.m. Saturday, doors open at 8 p.m.; $20 plus fees in advance, $25 at the door; Domino Room, 51 NW Greenwood Ave., Bend; jmaxproductions.net, ticketweb.com or 541-408-4329.
