The Sisters Folk Festival organization revealed the initial lineup for the 2019 edition of the festival this week, including Hawaii soul artist Ron Artis II & the Truth, Montreal Quebecois band Le Vent Du Nord and all-women mariachi group Flor de Toloache.
The 19 artists announced will join headliner Bruce Cockburn, who was previously announced in January, at the 23rd edition of the festival, which takes place Sept. 6 through 8 at 11 venues in Sisters. The final lineup is expected to feature more than 40 performers and will be revealed in June, according to a news release from the organization.
The artists announced include newcomers and returnees from previous years’ festivals. They include: The Hamiltones, The East Pointers, Aaron Lee Tasjan, Rising Appalachia, Carrie Rodriguez, Cedric Burnside, Lula Wiles, Pharis and Jason Romero, Alex Cuba, Kuinka, The Brother Brothers, The Suitcase Junket, FY5, Kacy and Clayton, Stand and Sway, and Kristin Andreassen.
The organization also revealed this year’s poster design, titled “Ripples” and created as usual by local songwriter, artist and author Dennis McGregor.
