Thanks to the popularity of bluegrass-inspired bands in modern indie music (and beyond), you’ve no doubt seen the many ’grass-inspired portmanteaus: newgrass, jamgrass, mashgrass, prog-grass, gospel-grass. “Metal-grass” doesn’t seem like it should be a thing — when was the last time you turned on some Sabbath or Maiden for the banjo solos? But thanks to Finland’s Steve ’N’ Seagulls, metal-grass is very much a thing, and of course it found an audience in Bend. The band will bring a second helping of its hard rock-by-way-of-strings to Volcanic Theatre Pub on Wednesday. Expect some hilarity, but also some serious chops — as anyone who has heard the band’s latest album, “Grainsville,” or saw the band’s debut Bend performance in early 2017 can attest.
Steve ’N’ Seagulls: 9 p.m. Wednesday; $18 plus fees in advance, $20 at the door; Volcanic Theatre Pub, 70 SW Century Drive, Bend; volcanictheatre.com or 541-323-1881.
