Toward the end of last year, local punk/funk/everything-in-between trio Dr. Green Dreams was supposed to head out on tour and release its debut EP. But lead singer/guitarist Dominic Taliaferro ended up hospitalized for eight weeks with septic pulmonary edema (fluid in the lungs and blood clotting), which was caused by a bacterial infection, according to bassist Maya Garcia. Taliaferro, also a father of two, is up and about, but still out of work while he continues to recover. But as usual, Bend’s music scene is stepping up to help. Local groups The Jess Ryan Band, The Roof Rabbits, Strange Rover and Keez will all perform at a benefit for Taliaferro at M&J Tavern on Saturday — and Dr. Green Dreams itself will take the stage for the first time since Taliaferro’s hospitalization. Proceeds from donations will go toward Taliaferro’s hospital bills and recovery.
