Over the last decade, The California Honeydrops went from busking in subway stations in Oakland, California, to touring with rocker Bonnie Raitt last year. But the band’s story begins in Poland, where lead vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Lech Wierzynski was born to political refugees and developed an obsession with American rock, soul and hip-hop. The five-piece Honeydrops mix Wierzynski’s early influences — singers such as Sam Cooke and Ray Charles — with healthy doses of New Orleans jazz, Delta blues, hard funk and R&B to create the horn-heavy, throwback sound heard on the band’s four studio albums, most recently 2015’s “A River’s Invitation.” Join the party when the band plays the Domino Room on Thursday with Alaska gypsy rockers The Super Saturated Sugar Strings.

The California Honeydrops, with The Super Saturated Sugar Strings: 9 p.m. Thursday, doors open at 8 p.m.; $15 plus fees in advance, $20 at the door; Domino Room, 51 NW Greenwood Ave., Bend; bendticket.com or 541-408-4329.
