The NBA restart is bringing more than the return of the Portland Trail Blazers and the long-awaited conclusion of the 2019-20 season. It’s also bringing a new beer.
Deschutes Brewery on Monday unveiled the Rip City Lager, a special release brew produced in partnership with the Blazers to coincide with the return of the NBA.
Featuring black and red “home” and “away” cans decked out in plaid to honor legendary former Blazers coach Jack Ramsay, the beers will be available in six packs, 12 packs and 24 packs, in addition to 19.2 ounce tallboy cans, in Oregon and Washington in September. The special brew will also be available in August on draft at Deschutes Pubs and its Bend Tasting Room.
The Rip City Lager features Lemondrop, Crystal and Hallertau Mittlefruh hops and is billed as a “bright, citrusy lager that’s crisp and clean for ultimate drinkability.”
“We’re ecstatic that the Trail Blazers get to restart the 2019-20 season,” Neal Stewart, VP of Sales and Marketing for Deschutes, said in a release. “As lifelong Trail Blazers fans, all of us at Deschutes are so proud of this partnership and the opportunity to share the official Rip City Lager with fellow fans to celebrate our beloved Pacific Northwest team.”
