Preston Thompson Guitars in Sisters will continue the craft of handmade guitar making started by founder Preston Thompson, who died April 11.
Thompson started making guitars in his home decades ago and formed the company with Dan Stewart in 2012. Stewart will continue to oversee the business as a co-owner. The company employs 10 people, who will continue hand building guitars using Thompson’s methods.
“Fortunately, our team has adapted very well since Preston became ill nearly a year ago,” Stewart said in an email. “I cannot stress enough that what we do is a team effort. We understand our roles and respect each other’s capabilities, experience and ideas.
“We miss Preston every day. Building top end acoustic guitars has always been his dream.”
