A former Central Oregon Community College dean has been named director of the Central Oregon Small Business Development Center.

COCC, which hosts the small business center, announced Friday that the slot will be filled by Jerry Schulz, formerly dean of extended learning at the college.

Schulz has been interim director since last June, when Steve Curley left for the Oregon Small Business Development Center Network, hosted by Lane Community College.

Schulz joined COCC in 2010, according to a news release from the college. He owned a private computer school in the San Francisco area. Schulz grew the school to include 50 instructors and thousands of clients, including Visa, Hewlett-Packard and Oracle.
