• Pure Light: A Family Health Studio will host a grand-opening celebration from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday 497 SW Century Drive, Suite 120, in Bend. The event is free and open to the public. There will be an array of activities, raffle items from local businesses, healthy catered food and live local music.

• Education Foundation for Bend-La Pine Schools, Friends of the Children, The Giving Plate, Humane Society of the Ochocos and In Our Backyard have been selected to compete for $12,000 based on business pitches during the fourth annual Pitch for a Purpose, the culminating event of the 2018 Leadership Bend Impact Summit. The event will be 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday at Central Oregon Community College, Wille Hall. There will also be a $2,500 audience-awarded prize. The event is open to the public.

• Oregon Lyme Disease Network, a Bend nonprofit, was honored at the United Way Volunteer of the Year banquet for its work supporting patients, coordinating presentations to raise awareness and educating people and groups about the tick-borne disease.

• Hola! Nouveau Mexican-Peruvian Cuisine has expanded to Redmond and is at 514 NW Greenwood Ave. The local chain has four Bend restaurants, including one in Sunriver.

• Giant Loop has won a “Nifty 50” award for best new product for the fifth consecutive year. The 2018 award-winning product is the GL Pannier Mount, an ultralight, quick-connect, quick-release, lockable solution for motorcycle soft luggage and equipment.

• Healthy Beginnings received a $2,500 grant from The Umpqua Bank Charitable Foundation to support the community screening improvement project.
