Volunteers are gathering Thursday in Sisters to prepare mailings to licensed liquor businesses in Oregon calling attention to human trafficking, the Oregon Liquor Control Commission announced in a news release.
The Sisters Rotary Club volunteered to stuff envelopes with letters encouraging licensed businesses to display an enclosed sticker that provides contact information for victims of human trafficking who seek help. The stickers come in separate versions for male and female restrooms, in English and Spanish and contain a phone number for the National Human Trafficking Hotline to which callers may report suspected cases of human trafficking or seek help for themselves, according to the OLCC.
OLCC staff along with Rotary volunteers and members of the In Our Backyard campaign are scheduled to gather from noon to 2 p.m. at the Sisters Library, 110 N. Cedar St.
The trafficking hotline number is 888-3737-888, or text BeFree (233733).
