• Bob Williams has joined Sun Forest Construction as the new general manager overseeing the custom homes division. He previously worked as the general manager of several Shea Homes Resort projects in Phoenix.

• Kathy Nelson is now the chief financial officer for Sun Forest Construction. She is also the corporate treasurer.

• Mickey Youngblood has joined Sun Forest Construction as a remodel project manager.

• Travis Turner has joined Sun Forest Construction as the new paint and restorations project manager.

• Cindy York, Crook County library manager, has won the 2017 Oregon Library employee of the year award, which recognizes a library employee who provides excellent service and shows leadership, initiative, and willingness to share skills.

• Betsy Warriner has joined the board of directors for High Desert Chamber. She has previously worked as a teacher and was the service-learning coordinator at Portland State University. She later founded Volunteer Connect and served as its executive director.

• David Gilmore has joined the board of directors for High Desert Chamber. He is a broker at Coldwell Banker Morris Real Estate and served on the board of Volunteer Connect.

• Thomas Wright has joined the board of directors for High Desert Chamber. He previously served as the interim leader of BE Smith and chief administrative officer at Tuality Healthcare. He is a former board member of the Harrisburg Symphony Orchestra in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

• Benjamin Smith has joined Ascent Architecture & Interiors as a design professional. Smith is a 2005 graduate of the University of Utah with a bachelor’s degree in architectural studies. He earned a master’s degree in architecture in 2007 from the NewSchool of Architecture and Design in San Diego. He brings nearly a decade of commercial and residential design and project management experience to his new position.

• Morgan Whitehouse has joined the marketing team at The Center Orthopedic & Neurosurgical Care & Research. She previously worked for Copper Mountain Resort as a member of the public relations team, communicating strategic messages to media, guests and employees. She also has experience working in social media for Seventh Generation and marketing and communications at the University of Vermont Medical Center. She has a Bachelor of Science from University of Vermont public communications.

• Gunnar Hansen, Nathan Orf, Kathie Gedde, Lori Slaughter, Dr. Barbara Newma, Moe Carrick, Marc Redman, Tansi Brown and Renee Alexander have joined the board of directors for Healing Reins Therapeutic Riding Center.

• Fannie Burge, Brian Robertson and Jenny Nichols, dispatchers for Deschutes County 911, have completed the basic telecommunications class offered by the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training. The two-week course includes emergency call-handling techniques, stress management, civil liability, ethics, criminal law and an overview of fire-rescue and law enforcement operations.

• Denise Wright, Mary Dooley and Jeanne Linn have earned the Silent Servant Award from the Peter R. Marsh Foundation of Vancouver, Washington for their work as court appointed special advocates in Jefferson, Crook and Deschutes counties.
