• Sara Bergby, of Ascent Architecture & Interiors, has earned her license to practice architecture in Oregon. Bergby joined Ascent in 2013 and is the firm’s custom residential specialist. She also manages medical, dental and multifamily housing projects. Bergby is a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design-accredited professional and an Earth Advantage Commercial project steward.

• Laura Brown was named the Oregon School Nurse of the Year by the Oregon School Nurses Association. This year she is assigned to Summit High School, Students to Reach Individual Visions of Excellence and William E. Miller Elementary School. She has been working with Bend-La Pine Schools since 1994.

• Ken Parshall has been appointed to serve as the Jefferson County School District’s 509J new superintendent effective July 1. He will continue to serve as principal for Warm Springs K-8 Academy in the 2017-18 school year. Prior to joining JCSD 509J two years ago, Parshall served as assistant superintendent in the Salem-Keizer School District. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Pacific University, master’s degree from Portland State University and an administrative credential from Lewis & Clark College.

• Louie Hoffman, of Re/Max Key Properties, was named Realtor of the Year at the Central Oregon Association of Realtors EnCOAR awards.

• Sam DeLay, of The Hasson Company, was named Rookie of the Year at the EnCOAR awards.

• Derek Meyer, of Prime Lending, was named Affiliate of the Year at the EnCOAR awards.

• Carolyn Bostwick, of Windermere, was named the Women’s Council of Realtors Member of the Year at the EnCOAR awards.

• David Thorne, of Deschutes Gift Baskets, was named the Women’s Council of Realtors Affiliate of the Year at the EnCOAR awards.

• John Snippen, principal broker and Realtor at Coldwell Banker Morris in Bend, has earned the Earth Advantage Certification from the National Association of Realtors, which emphasizes the benefits of green building practices. Snippen earned his MBA from Marylhurst University and his bachelor’s degree in business from Oregon State University. He has been a broker at Coldwell Banker for almost 12 years.
