Gary A. Warner (State bureau chief)
Gary Warner is the State Bureau Chief for The Bulletin. He reports on Oregon and Washington, D.C. politics from offices in Salem, Bend and Eugene. He previously worked at The Orange County Register, where he covered four presidential elections, Operation Desert Storm, the Los Angeles riots, and two major earthquakes. He has reported from over 60 countries and all 50 states. Earlier, he was State Capital Bureau Chief for The Pittsburgh Press and press officer for the California State Senate Judiciary Committee. He has a master's degree in journalism from Columbia University, a bachelor's in history from U.C. Berkeley and a bachelor's in psychology from Cal State Long Beach. His favorite award was being named 2002 Newspaper Reporter of the Year by the Association of Surfing Professionals. He enjoys baseball and a wide range of music.
