Brian McElhiney (Music reporter)
Brian McElhiney is the Bend Bulletin's music reporter. He comes to Oregon after stints living in New York, Vermont, New Hampshire, Okinawa, Japan; California and New Jersey. Prior to the Bulletin, he was Sunday editor at the Leader-Herald in Gloversville, New York, for a year and a half; and spent nearly six years covering music in New York's Capital Region for the Daily Gazette of Schenectady and Saratoga Living magazine. He started his journalistic career as arts editor of the Bennington Banner in Bennington, Vermont. Brian studied journalism at Keene State College in Keene, N.H. Music is quite literally his whole life. When not writing about it, he's writing songs, playing guitar and singing – for 4 ½ years he led the Albany, New York-based punk band The Hearing Aides. He also writes fiction and is currently working on a sci-fi comic book.
