The Crook County School board has appointed Kelsey Swick to the vacant Zone 3 seat and Eric Osborne to the vacant Zone 1 seat. The terms expire in June, when board members elected in May take their seats.
The nine-person committee the board appointed to make recommendations came to a consensus to recommend Swick, but was split between Osborne and Mark Maboll. Osborne has elementary-aged children attending school in the district, a perspective the board doesn’t currently have.

Committee chair Kevin Bradley was appreciative of the time everyone took during the process.
“Everything went smoothly,” he said. “We were impressed with all four applicants.”
Board chair Jennifer Knight also thanked the committee members for their time.
Jessica Brumble resigned from her seat in December and Cheyenne Edgerly resigned in January.
The board also approved an interim superintendent contract. Joel Hoff will serve as interim superintendent for the next 18 months, until June 2026. He replaces Melissa Skinner, who mutually agreed to leave the district in January.
