TIGARD — Trinity Lutheran sophomores Cash Niemeyer and Matthew Eidler combined to score 59 points Wednesday night in the Saints’ 65-54 nonleague boys basketball victory over Westside Christian.
The triumph over the Class 3A Eagles was the third win in a row for the 2A Saints, who shot 52 percent from the field (23 of 44) for the game and made 9 of 11 free throws in the fourth quarter to secure the road victory.
Niemeyer scored 12 of his team-high 30 points in the first period and also had five assists for Trinity Lutheran (7-4).
Eidler scored 12 of his 29 points in the fourth quarter and combined with Gideon Schippers, another sophomore, for 11 rebounds.
The Saints led 16-9 after one period and did not trail the rest of the way.
Next up for Trinity Lutheran is a nonleague home game against Butte Falls on Tuesday.
