Local pro Vijarro seeks support — Bend professional golfer Andrew Vijarro is seeking local backing to help him achieve his goal of reaching the PGA Tour. Vijarro, 25, graduated from Bend High School in 2008, when he was a Class 5A state co-champion. He went on to a successful college career at Oregon and turned pro in 2012. He has played the last two years on PGA Tour Canada, cutting last season short to overhaul his swing. Now he is looking to generate support that will allow him — along with his caddie, former Bend High teammate Joel Salmond — to return to PGA Tour Canada. Vijarro is hopeful that the Canadian tour will serve as a steppingstone to the PGA Tour. To learn more about Vijarro or make a donation, go to www.gofundme.com/n97o1c.
