ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Minnesota Wild are fighting to stay in the playoff hunt. Their opponent Thursday night, the Arizona Coyotes, are as far outside of the playoff picture as possible.
That might not have been readily apparent based on the result at Xcel Energy Center.
Clayton Keller scored Arizona’s fourth straight goal at 3:55 of overtime to give the Coyotes a 4-3 comeback victory. Arizona, the last-place team in the NHL, snapped a four-game losing streak.
“That was a good, gutsy win,” Coyotes coach Rick Tocchet said. “We picked up the pace, we had puck possession and guys started believing what we were doing out there.”
Lightning 5, Canucks 2: TAMPA, Fla. — Nikita Kucherov stopped an 11-game goal drought and Andrei Vasilevskiy made 27 saves for his NHL-best 32nd victory to lead Tampa Bay.
Golden Knights 5, Sharks 3: SAN JOSE, Calif. — Third-period goals by Brayden McNabb and James Neal lifted Vegas to the win.
