Jan. 20, 1926 - July 12, 2014

Jeannine Bloom died Saturday July 12 of natural causes in her home.

Jeannine was born January 20, 1926 in Montreal Quebec Canada. She met the true love of her life, our dad, Bill Bloom. They had two children, Nanette and Michael.

Bill and Jeannine were lifelong entrepreneurs and they pursued their dream of becoming a McDonald's franchise. They opened the first McDonald's in Central Oregon in 1973. As their business grew over the years to include three thriving restaurants, so did their family to include four grandchildren, Scott, Courtney, Tulley, and Megan; and one great-grandchild, Cruz.

The most prevalent thing that Jeannine believed in throughout her entire life was to always help others and give back to her community. As a young immigrant to the United States she taught English as a second language to other immigrants, volunteered at hospitals, and most recently enjoyed helping elementary students in the SMART reading program.

To honor her life, we established the Bill and Jeannine Bloom Scholarship Fund at COCC to help nursing students pursue their dreams. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Bill & Jeannine Bloom Scholarship, Central Oregon Community College Foundation, 2600 NW College Way, Bend, OR 97701; or online at http://www.cocc.edu/foundation/online-donations/ Please select "options" and indicate "Bloom Scholarship."

The family will hold a private ceremony in her honor.
